Could someone explain what are the temporal bones and their function? I stll don't know much how to identify them, examples of persons with big ones would be good.
You guys seen to talk a lot about it, so i'm curious.

Inidividuals with enlarged temporal lobes are referred to as starchildren, the name deriving from the extraterrestial research project of one Lloyd Pye. These should be a decent starting point. I believe you mean to inquire about lobes, not bones. Basic function is sound processing, memory, and emotion. Basic behavior is empathetic small group formation, anti-hierarchy.

It should be noted that not all lateral mass is temporal. The frontal can also protrude laterally. The distinction is a matter of some debate.
