** Site structure Baronies may be either personal (reflective of the founder) or typed (reflective of an Edenic type). In either case, the baron is the final authority. Each barony is an independent category on this site. A barony is composed of at least 4 forums - Native, Visa, Typed and Public. The two restricted forums are Visa and Native. There are also Topical halls, which are focused on a particular topic. I am ultimately in charge of these. Otherwise they function the same as a barony. ** Standard user progression A standard path of progression for a new user at Altrugx would be as follows: 1. Register an account 2. Post well in the Public fora 3. Get typed 4. Post well in the Typed fora 5. Join a barony's Visa forum and post well 6. Join that barony's Native forum ** Structural Details You can be a member of as many baronies as will admit you. Pay attention to where you're posting. Each forum or subforum has its own purpose, norms and authorities. Your performance impacts your future permissions. As does your face. ** How-To details To get typed, read the typing instructions here. Then PM a baron, admin or typist. Pick whoever will make the best sponsor for you. Typed users can apply to joinable user groups through their profile interface. Hover your mouse over your username (upper right) and select "join user group". Barons must approve such applications. (Barons cannot manually add users who have not applied. Only admins can do that.) Users should apply to "Visa" first to see whether a forum is a mutual fit, before applying to "Native". Likewise, barons are encouraged to observe suitable trial periods. Phrenology is an inexact science, and doing it over the internet is seeing through a peephole darkly. Note that everyone who is a member of "Native" should ALSO be a member of "Visa", unless he can't be trusted to speak nicely to guests. "Native" does not automatically give "Visa" permissions. They are two different rooms. If you're not typed, it is still possible to join a barony, but an admin must manually change your permissions. Talk to the baron and have him ask an admin. If you would like to leave a group, request that your baron remove you. Due to Xenforo design limitations, it is not practicable for users to remove themselves from groups.
